Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships are Welsh Assembly Government funded programmes for learners in employment.

Apprentices can be any age with training provided in the workplace on frameworks of qualifications from levels 2-4 which are work related. A framework normally involves an NVQ in an appropriate vocational route e.g. Business Administration or Customer Service, with key skills and a Technical Certificate. The training is provided in the workplace by assessors from a College or Private Training Provider with some learners attending day-release depending on vocational route chosen.
Apprentices must be:
• in full time or substantial employment (16 hours plus per week)
• school leaving age and above
• prior achievement will vary according to vocational option
• not in receipt of any other EU funding for training
• willing to undertake a basic skills assessment
A pre-apprentice learning programme is available for learners below level 2 and all workplaces of learners are health and safety vetted by the training provider. Colleges and Private Training Providers can sometimes help people find suitable employment to undergo apprenticeships.
